2024 Awards Dinner Recap
On Friday, February 28th, we gathered for an unforgettable evening filled with excitement, pride, and inspiration. The highlight of the night was listening to Lifetime Achievement Award winner Steve Medlen share his wisdom on laying stepping stones for future generations. His message resonated deeply, as each of our nominees and winners are paving the way for Oakdale’s bright future.
2024 Award Winners
🏆 Lifetime Achievement Award – Steve Medlen
A pillar of the Oakdale community, Steve Medlen, owner of House of Beef, has dedicated decades to serving not only quality meats but also his community. A third-generation meat processor, Steve has been instrumental in supporting local businesses, hosting merchant meetings, and advocating for downtown redevelopment. His legacy continues to pave the way for future generations.
🏆 Citizen of the Year – Christopher Smith
Christopher’s unwavering dedication to Oakdale is evident in his role as City Council Member and Mayor Pro-Tem, as well as his volunteer work with the Oakdale Rescue Mission, Oakdale Senior Center, Love Oakdale, and many more. His leadership and tireless commitment to service have left a lasting impact on the community.
🏆 Junior Achievement Award – Landon Arnold
Landon has dedicated over 150 volunteer hours through organizations like Astro, the Bianchi Center, and Oakdale schools, while also serving as the student board representative. He founded a successful book club at OHS, raising funds to provide books for students and encouraging literacy among his peers.
🏆 Young Professional of the Year – Grayson Haydn-Myer
Grayson is a passionate auctioneer who has helped raise millions of dollars for over 40 nonprofit organizations, including FFA, 4-H, Rotary, and local charities. In 2024, she also placed 3rd in the International Junior Auctioneer Championship, continuing to grow in her craft and give back to the community.
🏆 Nonprofit/Service Club of the Year – Oakdale Enrichment Society
The Oakdale Enrichment Society (OES) has been instrumental in organizing beloved community events, including Small Town Christmas, the All-American Bash with its Fourth of July drone show, and Community Closet, a free clothing drive for residents in need. Their dedication to Oakdale’s growth and unity is truly inspiring.
🏆 Business of the Year – ‘Ike Loa Candle Co.
‘Ike Loa Candle Co. has gone beyond just selling candles—they have engaged the community with fundraisers, scavenger hunts, and charitable giveaways. Their commitment to supporting small businesses and nonprofits, as well as bringing joy through seasonal surprises and collaborations, has made a lasting impact in Oakdale.
